Steam Gala'

This years Autumn Steam Gala saw the return to the event of the immensely
popular LMS Pacific’s 6233 ‘Duchess of Sutherland’
and 6201 ‘Princess Elizabeth’. To give a distinctive LMS
flavour to this year’s gala, these were joined by four resident
LMS designs; Stannier mogul 42968, 8F 48773, Ivatt Class 2 46443, and
Black 5 45110. Also representing the LMS was visiting ‘Super D’
49395 appearing for the first time at the Severn Valley Railway. The
‘Super D’ was employed throughout the weekend mainly on
demonstration goods trains. Other classes in action were GWR 7802 ‘Bradley
Manor’, Large Prairie 5164, Pannier tanks 1501 and 5764 making
a total of eleven locomotives steam.
